About Erica

Erica Sharp creates delicate, detailed jewellery inspired by her British and Japanese heritage.  Her jewellery explores the beautiful forms found in nature, from native trees to tiny lichens and fungi. The beauty of the seasons, nature, and its mythology are woven deeply into Japanese culture. Alongside the ancient folklore of British trees and plants, these two sides of her cultural upbringing have influenced her artistically.

Erica’s jewellery encapsulates the beauty found in the natural forms, leaves and plants she collects and observes throughout the seasons. With a background in art and illustration, her design process starts with drawing, focusing on textures and details. Precious gemstones and metals are incorporated into her jewellery designs to create beautiful organic treasures.

Erica carves and sculpts her designs in wax, including fine details and textures. Using the lost wax casting method, her pieces are cast into recycled precious metals to form unique and wearable jewellery, evoking the beauty and magic of nature.

In 2024 Erica won a Goldsmiths Craft and Design Council silver award for her wax carving and high quality of craftsmanship. She is also a teacher and is passionate about passing on her creative knowledge. She gained a post-graduate certificate in education in 2009, and has 15 years of teaching experience. She is currently an artist in residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre, where she teaches jewellery classes.
